For our church situation, our loop rig and computer is going to sit in the soundbooth. I'll be triggering Ableton Live using a Looptimus from the stage. Due to the distance, connecting with a standard usb cable or midi cable doesn't seem like an option. Anyone have experience with this kind of setup? We have XLR cables routed back to the sound booth. I'm guessing the run is around at least 100ft. Can I convert midi and run it over a standard XLR type cable? Seems like there would some kind of DI box that would handle this, but I'm not finding it easily. Any suggestions for products and solutions would be much appreciated!

Hey Phil,

I would try maybe using a longer MIDI cable, a USB powered hub to push the signal further, or a bluetooth wireless transmitter such as the PUC+ wireless (we've tested and had GREAT results with this option up to 150ft +). The last option is to have someone from the back in the sound booth trigger the loops with a keyword or signal that you use. Hope this helps! =)
