Become a Loop Community contributor... and make $$$ !

One of the great new features about LoopCommunity.com is that we allow users to upload their loop content and make money each time they sell! There are so many talented loop / track programmers out there that we wanted to provide a platform for them to display their work.

If you're interested in becoming a seller on the website, check out this page.

I have some loops I would like to upload, but I just want to make sure I do everything correctly: 1. I'm assuming the loops should be uploaded with click track/vocal cues panned hard away from everything else. Is this correct? 2. Should it stick to the "official" arrangement of the song, or can small changes be included with instructional notes? (ex. we simply added an a cappela verse at the end) 3. Is there anything I need to be aware of pertaining to copyrights, etc.? Sorry if I sound like a worry-wart! :-) Thanx!

Hey VicD - thanks for asking!  When you upload please have the click panned hard left and the loop hard right. Changes in the arrangement are cool as long as you can explain exactly what they are so everyone knows exactly what they're getting. When you upload you have the choice of letting us handle all the legal/licensing issues or doing it yourself.

I'm new to loops and just started using Ableton Suite 8. If I buy a loop for a song under the Ableton file, will it come as an Ableton project that has the parts for each individual instrument assigned that I can make changes to or is it just one audio file that has all the instruments on it and I put it in an Audio scene? Love the website!

Hey bacnol! The Ableton sessions have each instrument split out and come as an Ableton project.  They do not have the midi/original instruments through, just per-instrument wavs.

bacnol,

Each instrument is on it's own track. It is a multi-track setup in Ableton. You can definitely add locators throughout the song to jump around the arrangement of the song on the fly. -matt

so... looking at the proposed SOPA regulations.... If i create a loop of a well known song.... and sell it on loop community..... Am i not in breach of Copyright? If I sing the song myself, put it on youtube.... and over 2500 people watch it... the proposed rules mean that i am breaking the law. same applies here..... no?

It would if we were not acquiring and maintining proper licensing of the track. That is one of the biggest values that LC provides to our contributors and customers.

Thank you Mike. Please can you tell me how you handle the (c) ? is there an info page i missed? Rick
Thursday, January 19, 2012 - 7:19am

Essentially, when a loop is submitted to the site, we work directly with the publisher to acquire the right kind of licenses and then we track, report, and pay for licenses as they are needed.  We don't have much information on the site because the whole point of it is that you don't have to worry about it!

Mike, what percentage of the selling fee does the creator get? Thanks Rick

If Loop Community manages all your licensing, you make 30% of each sale.

What If I'm using refills in my loops?

When you upload, simply self-contain the song and it will include only the necessary sounds.

I'm interested in becoming a contributor, but I only have Reason 6 and the lite version of ableton: Do I have to be able to upload ableton sessions or can I just sell WAV's?
Wednesday, May 30, 2012 - 2:53pm

You don't need Ableton, you can simply upload your Reason files (self contained of course), and we'll handle the rest!

I'm also thinking about contributing some of the tracks I've made, but I don't have Reason or Live... in fact, I don't even use Windows or OSX. I can make multiple .wav tracks with loop points in Ardour, so I'm wondering if I should take all the .wav tracks I have and import them into Live (the free demo version)? Do you think it would be better to just post the complete .WAVs, or should I try to find a way to convert them into Ableton? What kind of demand is there for only complete tracks? Oh, and I love the site, looking forward to getting involved here!

Hey Jeff,

Simply bounce your individual tracks to wavs, zip them up and we'll take care of the Ableton session. Keep in mind you need to include vocal cues to identify the different song elements.  If you need an example, grab the free loop this month and take a listen to the split file with cues for an idea of what you need to do.

I can't upload! I'm not sure what the problem is exactly, but after I fill out all the info and click 'upload,' it tells me that there was an error and I have to start over.I think it might have something to do with my security settings, but I've tried everything I can think of to adjust them. Any suggestions??

Are you uploading everything as a single zip file? How large is the file?

It's just a reason file. It's 1.75 MB
Wednesday, August 8, 2012 - 7:18am

Are you zipping the file?

No. Do I need to?
Wednesday, August 8, 2012 - 2:55pm

Yes. Uploads must be contained in a zip file - for a variety of reasons.  Try that and if it doesn't work, submit a support request and we'll get you sorted out.

When you say loops I'm thinking of 12 bar loops of say drum & bass pattern to be used in someone's project? Or maybe a guitar riff?

Quick question, I'm interested in becoming a loop contributor. I'm the keyboardist at our church and I put together the patches that we use. Is it possible to use some of the sounds I've created with my Korg and use Garage Band as my DAW? I have a Griffin Studio Connect with my ipad which allows me to record my Korg directly as well as use it as a midi controller. Would this be enough or would I need to purchase additional software?

You can definitely be a contributor with Garageband.

Just record your loops in Garageband. When you're ready to upload, save all the tracks as their own individual WAV files. Zip those up, along with your Garageband session file and you're set! Glad you're a part of the community.

Also, be sure to use the Loop Community CLICK and CUES. They are available for FREE in the store.

Hi, how about international contributers? I am from EU, can I apply? Any licensing/copyright, money transfer (I have PayPal) or other issues? Thanks.

Is it required to be a US Citizen to take part in the contributor program? Do we need an address in the US?
