l am loving crossfade!! However, l think it would be good if the Prime development team added 1 more feature. Wouldn’t it be nice, when you’re on a pad transition between songs, talking to the crowd or sharing a scripture, when you’re done talking, to be able to simply press the skip button to go to the next song, and it start the crossfade then between the 2 songs immediately? Currently it just stops the Pad sound cold, and starts the next song. My current workaround is to use the nifty new fade out button, wait for it to fade out, then click next. However this isn’t as smooth as cross fading, and creates dead space. The only other way l know of to do it would be to try to predict how long l’m gonna talk, and trim the stop time of my pads to that = scary! Any other workarounds out there?

Hey Brad,

Currently your workarounds of trimming the pad and using the fade out button are the best way to do it. Our development team is working on being on able to transition by hitting next in the middle of a pad for future updates.

Thanks for being a part of the community!

Derek, wondering when PRIME may be updated with this function ( the “SKIP to CROSSFADE” function mentioned above). Concerning the interim method we talked about of HITTING THE FADE OUT BUTTON then SKIPPING TO NEXT SONG: I can verify that method did not work today. When the next song started, I could hear it at first, then the tracks stopped being heard, although the click and cues were still audible. Luckily I caught this in practice; my workaround during the service time was to hit fade out, then hit the play button to essentially pause the pad tracks, then hit the next button to skip to the next song, then finally hit play again to start the next song. Maybe a little bug there to fix, because skipping to the next while playing shouldn’t have caused the tracks of the next song to play and then immediately fall silent. BUT this may likely be a non-issue anyway once we can just skip to crossfade.

Until this feature's available, what I've been doing is setting a pad for like 30 seconds and then triggering it when I feel like I'll be done talking in 30 seconds, and crossfade it into the next song. I agree though, this would be an ideal feature and looking forward to seeing it.

Update on how I'm currently working around this issue: I have a USB foot controller with 12 buttons that allows me to connect to Prime on my iPhone as well as to MainStage on my macbook at the same time. Now I click a footswitch button to fire the droning pad sound from Worship Essentials 2, and then when I'm ready, I click the button next to it, and it fades out that pad sound and starts the next song in Prime. I have a button set up for each song in my set, each with a corresponding button next to it to fire a pad in the same key as that song. Now I have plenty of flexibility between songs, to talk or whatever we feel to do. For anyone who's interested, this functionality also allows me to do several other things: such as fire lyric videos in sync with Prime (which I used to do when I ran tracks from Logic Pro), and it's also nice to not have to have 2 separate foot controllers at my feet in order to control 2 devices.
