Anyone out there using one of these controllers for triggering loops? I want to get the softstep sometime but thought about getting this until while I save. I lead from guitar and would rather not have to lean over a laptop trying to see what key I'm hitting to trigger the loop. Any suggestions for cheaper controls would be welcome :)

logidy does seem pretty

logidy does seem pretty limiting. Lets be honest, I'll probably go straight for the softstep soon... Would like to move away from my laptop keyboard so i don't have to keep it so close. That akai controller doesn't look too bad though either.

I have a Logidy to fire

I have a Logidy to fire scenes, turn metronome on and off and switching sounds. If you understand the Logidy software and a lot of the functions of Live, it's quite flexible.

Or.... you could get really serious about it and custom build your own MIDI controller:

We used Matt's idea, but we had a bluetooth keyboard lying around. Best part...it's wireless.
