Looking to invest in a new pedal, interface and software...

I just joined this site and impressed with all of the suggestions in the forums.

I am looking for an interface to use with the softstep foot controller, my mac and potentially ableton (but looking into other options as well). I have been reading some of the forums and it sounds like the MOTU might be the one to look into. Potentially something under 300$ if possible.

I will be using everything to create live and improvised acoustic cello loops with voice. Not sure if that bit makes a difference. I am also s bit of a nube when it comes to interfaces and software, so reading about everything can be a bit overwhelming, but excited to no longer be limited by my equipment, and let the equipment limit me...which will inevitably force me to learn more.

Thanks!

Welcome to the site

Welcome to the site samraecello!
A Presonus Audiobox 22/44VSL will suit you just fine!
The difference between the two is that the 44VSL has 4 outputs, and the 22VSL has 2 outputs.
I've used both, and they work quite well!
You can also check around ebay for a MOTU UltraLite, which is also a fantastic interface!

Ableton Live is going to

Ableton Live is going to unlimit you. It was specifically designed and created around live looping, recording and improving. The built in looper is amazing.
There is also a plugin called super looper that I've heard people use. Basically the same thing and Ableton's, just a different flavor.

Also check out Zoe Keating. She also uses her cello to loop and improve live.

I'll second using Sooper

I'll second using Sooper Looper, I use it as a standalone program in Ubuntu, it's very full-featured (as a looper) and it's free. Zoe Keating is phenominal, I believe she uses SooperLooper as well.
