Ableton Skipping During Multi-Track Playback
Unfortunately I have not been able to find the ASIO driver. I did some brief searching and reading on the internet and it appears to me that the ASIO driver is for windows computers - not for macs. I could not find a link for the driver. If anyone has additional technical knowledge or insight into this or where the driver is for macs, please do advise.
I did contact Ableton directly regarding my problem and this is the response I received:
"Your session file is indeed quite huge! It contains nearly 6000 audio clips in Session View.
The problem with so many clips in Session View is the non-linear concept of the Session View. Because in Session View any clip can be launched after any other clip, it's impossible to predict which clips needs to be buffered next. In contrast to Arrangement View where the time line defines which clips need to be buffered and played next.
One thing that you can try to improve the situation, is to run the 64-bit version of Live, which can utilize the whole memory of your computer. The 32-bit version of Live can only address up to 4GB memory.
Afterwards, you can switch some clips into RAM mode (see screenshot). Those clips will then be loaded right into the computer memory instead of being streamed from the hard drive.
I told you my session file was big - but I believe it is no larger than the one Matt Redman and Jacob Arnold use as seen here during Matt McCoy's recent interview: http://youtu.be/fXnBgE6iqKA. I wonder if they have had similar problems? I have my file arranged in pretty much the exact same type of format.
Here For You by Matt Redman
Hey Andrew, would it be possible to get the track labeled "Reason" split up into multiple parts (i.e. choir, epic drum, & pulsing synth)? I purchased the multitrack of this song, but several of the instruments are all bounced to the same track. Any help before this Thursday would be much appreciated. Thanks!
