Many parts in one song, many songs in one set

Ableton

Hey guys, So I'm working on an improvisational set where I need to be able to switch between multiple parts/sections in one song at will(so a 1 track audio file with all parts locked doesn't work), and then have multiple songs in a set. Is there a way to do this in Ableton? Best practices? Can't do it? I've seen scenes mostly be used as a single song track, but what I'm wondering about is having different scenes be different parts of a song(Chorus, Verse, Bridge, etc.), but then I'm not sure how to swtich to a different song without opening a new session file. Is there a way? I'm new to Ableton and have been racking my brain with the way to approach this. Thanks for any suggestions you might have. - Todd

This video has some great ideas for you to consider. It's called "How to be spontaneous with band cues in ableton", it's by Matt McCoy on the LC youtube channel. https://youtu.be/ar3rjlHV2v4

Keeping the ideas from the video in mind, you would definitely want to get a foot pedal like the Looptimus to trigger each section as well!

Jesus Culture's Ian McIntosh also has a really cool way to do this. Check out the following video: https://youtu.be/ZMK4-twNS-o

Ian McIntosh is also doing a 120 minute LIVE workshop tonight called A-Z Live Tracks in Ableton that I'm looking forward to attending. This might be just the thing you're looking for. http://imtvableton.instapage.com/
