Question About Follow Actions and Being Spontaneous

Ableton

I am interested in using Ableton to accommodate the spontaneousness of our worship band. I know how to break the songs into parts and get them working with Follow Actions. When a section of the song is launched then it plays after 1 bar of the section that is currently playing. Is there a way to queue the launch action to occur after the section is finished playing? For example, queue up a verse while you are in the middle of playing the chorus. I didn't know if this would eliminate any issues with timing a spontaneous transition correctly.

You can use the built in Follow Actions to play the next/ previous/ random CLIP in Session Mode. I use a third party tool called 'Follow' alongside Ableton Live to have it automatically launch the next SCENE, which is a lot more helpful to me. Check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gS6F_W-U8lE

I should clarify, this device will trigger an action upon clip completion. There really isn't any such thing as scene/ section completion. It will just trigger the next/previous/same/ random scene as soon as the clip is done.

Thank you Kyle. I knew I saw this video somewhere, but I couldn't remember where I found it. This will help get me started.
