Two Looptimus Controllers?

about 2 years ago (edited)

Hey, I am a worship pastor at a local church in NC. We have an MD on our team who directs the band and typically runs all of our loops through ableton with a looptimus controller. We have been experiencing some issues with being able to be spontaneous in our services because the worship leader is having to communicate to the MD in order to make a change that wasn't planed for. My question is, would it be possible to run two looptimus controllers at the same time that are programed the same way. 1 would go to the MD and the other would go to the worship leader so that he/she would have the ability to over ride ableton if needed? Also, would a looptimus mini be a better option or would it be more difficult to program the same as the main looptimus? I know they are basically playing midi notes to I am assuming that you would need the same number of notes on each bank in order for them to work together.

Hey Bryant, There is not a way to map a two MIDI controllers to the same button in Ableton Live. Normally what people do is have the worship leader control Ableton with Looptimus from the stage, and then the MD can control it from the computer when he needs to. You could use the Looptimus MINI if you wanted to map it to other buttons in Ableton, but it would not be able to be mapped to the same button. Thanks for being a part of LC! -Derek, The LC Team

Would it be possible to use two different controllers on one Prime App as long as they are not mapped to the same button?

If they are sending the same midi messages, then Prime will not be able to tell the difference between the devices. The only way at this time for muyltiple controllers to be used, would be to confirm that they are both sending unique midi commands. Hope this helps!
