John Palmer

Father, Husband, Musician-- JP is a multi-instrumentalist and producer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Though his parents did not play an instrument or sing, there was always music being played around the house or on any car ride. JP did not start playing until he was about 18 years old. At the time, he wanted to play the bass after hearing a Fred Hammond album. Not being able to afford a bass and amp, JP purchased a Casio keyboard and never looked back. Eventually, he was asked to play at church. This is where he “cut his teeth” so to speak. Eventually JP started playing for the Gospel choir at Kutztown University. While at Kutztown, he also played on the Jazz band led by Dr. Kevin Kjos. This was the start of his love of Jazz and when he began taking music very seriously. JP then began playing in local bands throughout Philly and the tri-state area, which led to some touring. JP has had the great opportunity to share the stage with amazing artist such as Bernie Worrell of Parliament-Funkadelic and Talking Heads, Lisa Loeb, Cory Trent, and Vicki Yohe, just to name a few. Though JP started playing by ear, he has a love and passion for music theory. JP has taken lessons with Julian Horner and Dr. Terry Klinefelter. A few years after his start on the piano, JP began learning other instruments. This includes the bass, drums and guitar. Eventually learning multiple instruments lead to production. Currently JP plays for church, local bands and teaches piano. He also produces out of his studio “Band Cave Studios”. ... Read more
