I started playing bass in church at age 15. In my 20s, I began leading worship teams. The thing I find most important as a worship leader is creating an environment that encourages a personal encounter with God every time we step to a microphone or in front of a congregation. This responsibility trumps musical quality (we are not a concert). But on the same token, I also find in the Bible that the Levites were skilled musicians. As a worship producer, I hope to make it easy for you as the worship leader to not only sound professional, but more importantly to build an environment for God's presence and a place for God to move in people's hearts.
