Preston began playing music at the age of 13 on trombone and after befriending worship leader Rob Hockney, began learning guitar. After graduating college from the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University in 2004 Preston began work with a premiere military band in the Washington, DC area. After a series of medical trials, Preston felt the calling to enter the field of music ministry.
