An aspiring international legend, Chris is no stranger to music and the performing arts. In love with music since an early age, he has performed publicly within and outside of the community of faith for more than a decade. A musician who takes his craft seriously, Chris has studied Music and Business at Johnson C. Smith University and Berklee College of Music. An innately gifted multi-instrumentalist, producer, and educator of Music Theory, he has produced albums such as Everybody’s Not Doing It and Walk By Faith. Additionally, he also produced the single, The Lord’s Prayer for Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church’s acclaimed Youth Choir and Amazing—a single performed by the group Chosen & Anointed. On a more renowned level, Chris has opened for and performed with gospel greats such as Tye Tribbett, Donald Lawrence, Dorinda Clark-Cole, John P. Kee, Maranda Curtis, Benita Washington and countless others. Chris is ultimately driven by his love for God and exudes this love as an inspiring mentor, educator, and leader to local artists, musicians and bands such as the Sans Pareil Band—a collective of high school musicians who share zeal and passion for music. Inspired by great bands and legendary musicians such as Herbie Hancock, Oscar Peterson, Art Tatum, George Dukes, Yellow Jackets and Snarky Puppy. Chris attests his greatest inspiration is his father—Apostle Phillip Witherspoon—the man who introduced him to the art of music and helped cultivate his natural gifts.
