I grew up in a Christian home on the mission field with what I thought was a good understanding of the gospel. Knowing I was a sinner in need of a saviour, I made a decision to follow Christ at a very young age. However, I spent a lot of my teenage and young adult years in phases of rebellion; struggling with sin, and then desperately trying to earn God’s forgiveness. It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom that the gospel and the words of Ephesians 1:5-6 finally made sense to me: “In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.” No matter how hard I tried, I never could earn my own salvation. It was purchased once and for all through the blood of Jesus. I never thought God would go to the lengths he did to teach me this lesson than when he called my wife, Lidy and I to foster care and adoption. The adoption of our three kids, Holden, Violet, and Sebastian, has become a huge part of my testimony; the reminder that I was fatherless, but God, in His love, sacrificed everything to call me His own.... Lire la suite
