Alan Barnes

Alan Barnes is a musician and visual designer from Damascus, Virginia who currently lives in Knoxville, TN with his wife and daughter. Alan served as the Music Director at Mount Pisgah UMC where he worked for 18 years, as well as leading worship for Crosspoint in Newport RI and Peacedale UCC in South Kingstown, RI. A professional musician since 1992, Alan has worked with artists in a diverse range of styles, serving as a player, arranger, composer, audio engineer, and musical director. His most recent original worship recording, The Wesley Project (which puts text from Charles Wesley in a new “progressive folk” setting) received positive press at jazzmando.com. Alan taught at the Atlanta Institute of Music from 1997-2005. He held an adjunct position at Vanderbilt University from 2006-2008. He taught at the Art Institute of Atlanta from 2006-2014, where he taught a wide array of music, audio, animation, and video courses. Currently, Alan is a professor of digital art at Johnson University in Knoxville, TN. Alan holds both a BM and an MM from Belmont University in music composing and arranging as well as an MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Communication Art/Sequential Art.... Ler mais
