Using a MIDI Expression Pedal with Looptimus and Prime

Published by Loop Community on

Did you know you can use a MIDI expression pedal with your Looptimus to control faders inside of Prime or any other MIDI mappable software? This allows you to smoothly fade in and out your tracks hands-free!

In terms of hardware, we recommend the Roland EV-5 as it works great and is really easy to set up. Let’s take a look!

The first thing you’ll want to do is plug in your expression pedal into the silver jack on the Looptimus. It’s also a good idea to calibrate your expression pedal the first time you use it with Looptimus. Watch this video on how to calibrate it.

After this, you can plug in your Looptimus to your device running Prime. Now all you need to do now is map the expression pedal to a fader in Prime. Here’s how you can do so:

  1. Press the MIDI button in the top left corner to enter MIDI mapping mode.
  2. Select a fader. We recommend the master fader.
  3. Press down on the expression pedal to map it.
  4. Press the MIDI button again to map it.

You are now able to control the master fader with your expression pedal. You can test this by moving the pedal and seeing the fader move up and down with it.

And that’s it! Using a MIDI expression pedal with Looptimus and Prime is not only easy to set up, but easy to use as well. Feel free to check out the Roland EV-5 as well as Looptimus and Prime!
